At Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery, our renowned plastic surgeons are asked a lot of questions by our patients. We strive to provide the best possible client care by offering honest, direct answers to all questions we receive. During your search for the right plastic surgeon to perform your surgery, it’s important that you ask the right questions to ensure you are getting the care you deserve. We have compiled a list of five questions you should ask during every consultation.

Are you board certified?

There are a lot of plastic surgeons out there. Some of them work in massive, beautiful offices where everything is pristine and luxurious. But that doesn’t mean anything unless that doctor in the office is board certified. There are several different types of certifying boards for plastic surgeons, in addition to the various societies that surgeons can be apart of. However, the crème de la crème of them all is the American Board of Plastic Surgery. A certification by the organization means the surgeon has underwent extensive, specialized training while maintain a certain standard of excellence in the field.

How many times have you done this procedure?

Remember the golden rule of repetition: practice makes perfect. Look for a surgeon who has performed your type of surgery at least more than 100 times. Anything less than that and you may start to feel as though you’re a guinea pig. What’s better is if that surgeon can provide you with a list of testimonials.

Where will the procedure be performed?

The location of the procedure is often left to the discretion of the surgeon. It may be performed in a hospital, outpatient ambulatory center, or in office. The complexity of the procedure in conjunction with your medical history should determine the location of your surgery.

What are the risks associated with this procedure?

This is always a question for your plastic surgeon – not Google. Every surgery comes with their own set of risks that need to be explained to you by a surgeon. Do not use the Internet to help you research the necessary questions of the surgery, like this one. The horror stories are often rare. However, it’s important to note that the most serious risks tend to include excessive blood loss, infection, or adverse reaction to general anesthesia.

What is the exact breakdown of fees for this procedure?

There are a lot of fees that go into your procedure, including the surgeon’s fees, anesthesia fees, operating room fees, lab fees, and other factors that may affect the final total. Always request a complete breakdown of fees on paper so there are no jaw-dropping surprises post-recovery.

At Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery, our thorough and complete consultation covers all of these topics and more. Schedule a meeting with one of our plastic surgeons and enjoy the benefits of working with oen of the best teams in Jacksonville, Florida.

Friday, October 7th, 2011

For many Americans looking to make the most of this tough economy, the right choice has ultimately become the most affordable choice. In most cases, it’s a solid line of thinking – generic bread over name brand, discount groups to save on dining, and other ways to get by with a smaller budget. However, there are some places where cutting cost should not be a factor, such as plastic surgery. If your low-cost plastic surgery goes awry, then the emotional and financial cost to repair it may exceed any amount of “expensive” plastic surgery you would have chosen. Post-Surgery Care

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Surgery can be a scary thing but if you know how to properly take care of yourself post-surgery then you will recover in no time. Of course every surgery is different and calls for specific ways to recover but there are some general things that everyone can do after surgery to try and ensure a recovery that is easy and as painless as possible.

Take your pain medication as prescribed. Even though you may be in some pain you do not want to take more than directed. Try and drink a lot of fluids, water being the best. Staying hydrated will keep you from feeling worse and help your body recover as fast as possible. It might be hard to do this seeing as how you will most likely be lying in your bed or on your sofa, but eat a balanced diet. Foods that are high in protein are best because they will build up your strength and help your body heal faster. Not eating enough protein during post-surgery recovery slows down the wound from healing. (more…)

Applicants Turn To Plastic Surgery to Improve Job Outlook

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

In light of a shockingly high unemployment rate and a struggling economy, today’s job applicants are looking for innovative ways to stand out from the rest and secure a position in a highly competitive market. One way that Baby Boomers are trying to look more attractive to potential employers is through cosmetic procedures that result in a more youthful appearance.

In America, it has become common knowledge that appearance and confidence are often linked to success, particularly in regard to employment. Young people are seen as more tech-savvy and adaptable, and many companies compete to win the patronage and loyalty of the under-30 market. In a culture that celebrates youth, the older generation has become increasingly concerned about looking younger despite living longer.

Although age discrimination is illegal, it can be something that is so subtle and hard to prove. Anecdotal evidence from over-40 job applicants indicates that many of them have felt that they were passed over for a position or a promotion due to their age, even if their superior cited other reasons for the decision. Now that more and more people are losing jobs, including many members of the Baby Boomer generation, the pressure to look younger is even stronger as individuals are thrown into a pool of highly qualified and competitive applicants of every age group.

A recent telephone survey by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicates that one way individuals are trying to combat the stigma they feel and perceive from potential employers regarding their age is through cosmetic surgery. Procedures sought range from something as simple as Botox or collagen injections to complete face lifts, but the goal of these procedures is the same: to look more youthful in order to gain confidence and increase attractiveness to potential employers. The study showed that more than one in ten women would undergo a procedure for those reasons. Additionally, almost 75% of those surveyed felt that improving their appearance and looking more youthful would help them get hired and advance within their workplace.

In light of this increased interest in plastic surgery for professional reasons, Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery offers an array of services to improve one’s appearance including financing options. Popular services include both surgical and non-surgical options for body and face. With assistance from Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery, you can truly put your best face forward in your next job interview.
