Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures in the United States with over 300,000 women electing to have the surgery in 2013 alone. Much of the recent increase in the popularity of the procedure can be attributed to the improvement in the implants and techniques over the last several years.  The silicone gel implants now come in multiple shapes and profiles which allow the surgery to be customized to each patient. Additionally, today's silicone gel is much more cohesive, which makes this new generation of gel implants safer with less concern about silicone leaking. With the development of the Keller Funnel, the silicone gel implants can now be placed through an incision in the underarm area, resulting in breast enhancement without any scar on the breast.  All in all, more choices, better, safer implants, and better techniques for women considering breast augmentation surgery.
